Hey folks! 👋 It’s Chelsea, the gal who fills your Hey folks! 👋 It’s Chelsea, the gal who fills your feed with love stories.

Figured it was time to show my face around here a little more, so here are a few random facts about me that have absolutely nothing (well, almost nothing) to do with photography.

1 - I’m a sucker for a good powder day. Snowboarding with friends, avoiding the lift lines and finishing with après is pretty much my idea of a perfect day.

2 - I’ve been into flowers since I was a kid. I used to try selling roadside flowers when I was about 7 or 8, and now here I am growing my own cut flowers, learning to make bouquets and giving the roadside flower stand another go. Funny how things come full circle! Peonies and cosmos currently have my heart.

3 - I’m a popcorn-loving, puzzle-doing, Giggly Squad-listening chica who usually has about five creative projects on the go at once. Currently working on getting more art up on our walls, but I also have big dreams of learning to sew properly, taking a pottery class and dabbling in calligraphy. Apparently I need more hobbies. 😂

4 - The smell of jasmine instantly takes me back to Australia, where I lived for five months in my 20s. It’s one of those smells that brings back so many good memories from that chapter of life.

5 - I’m the spontaneous friend who loves an hour-long catch-up with my besties about absolutely nothing. Those long summer drives to weddings are perfect for a good phone chat.

6 - One of my biggest pet peeves? When people order coffee without even acknowledging the person behind the counter. A little kindness and human connection go a long way.

7 - I have an almost one-year-old cat named Fergus (also known as Ferg, Fergie, Mr. F and Ferguson), who I’m convinced could turn even the biggest anti-cat person into a cat lover.

8 - Despite photographing plenty of weddings, I still tear up during vows and speeches. Hearing how much people love each other gets me every time. 🥹

So there’s a little peek into my world outside of photographing yours! 🤍

Let’s talk about why I love engagement sessions. 🤍 Let’s talk about why I love engagement sessions. 🤍

Not because you “should” book one. Because they’re a really nice thing to do for yourselves.

1. It’s a practice run, minus the pressure.
Nobody expects you to know what to do. We walk, we chat, and you get to see what it feels like to be photographed with me before the big day. By the end, most couples tell me it was way easier than they thought.

2. You get to know me (and I get to know you).
By your wedding day, I’m not a stranger with a camera. I already know how you laugh, who goes quiet and who gets goofy.

3. It’s a day that’s just yours.
V + O caught the first ferry from the Comox Valley and spent a morning on Hornby Island, exploring a place they’d never been. No agenda, a little rain, tall grass and coastline. A tiny adventure together before the busy part begins.

4. You end up with photos you’ll actually use.
Save the dates, a guest book, a frame for the hallway, or just a favourite on your phone.

And if it’s not for you, that’s completely okay. Plenty of couples skip it and still have a wonderful wedding day.

If you’re curious, send me a message and we’ll chat about what a session could look like for you two. 💌

Questions couples whisper after the consult call 🤍 Questions couples whisper after the consult call 🤍 (& the honest answers)

Some questions only come up once the call ends and you turn to your partner and say, “Okay, can I ask you something?” You’re not being difficult. You’re planning a day that should feel like you.

.

What if we don’t want a first look?
Then skip it. A quiet moment alone and a big aisle reveal are both lovely. Pick the one that sounds like you.

What if we hate kissing in front of people?
No big movie kiss is needed. A forehead touch, a giggle, a sneaky hand squeeze are just as good.

Do we have to do ten different family photos?
Not a chance. We make a short list ahead of time, I wrangle everyone like a friendly sheepdog, and you’re back at the party before your drink gets warm.

What if we ugly cry?
Please do. Happy tears are the best, and usually the photos you’ll treasure most.

.

If there’s a question you’re too shy to ask, send it my way. I’ve more than likely heard it before, and I promise there are no silly ones.

What’s the one you almost didn’t ask? 💌
