What a beautiful day with E & K at Cuckoo Trattori

What a beautiful day with E & K at Cuckoo Trattoria and Pizzeria and Englishman River Falls. 
Their wedding had such a timeless, elegant feel to it. Intimate, thoughtful and shared with 30 of their favourite people. 
When E first told me about her vision, she mentioned green would be woven in throughout the day, and she absolutely nailed it. From the florals to the little details, everything felt cohesive without ever feeling overdone. 
The day itself was full in the best way. Lots of movement, conversation, laughter and little moments unfolding all around them, with their closest people there for every part of it. 
A small celebration with so much personality, and such a beautiful sense of togetherness.

There’s something pretty magical about turning you

There’s something pretty magical about turning your engagement session into a little adventure.

V + O had never been to Hornby Island before, so instead of choosing somewhere familiar, we made a day of it. Catching the first ferry from the Comox Valley, hopping across Denman, and eventually making our way to Helliwell Park.

Because sometimes the best setting for your photos is somewhere that gives you room to explore.

A winding trail.
A stretch of windswept coastline.
Tall grass moving in the breeze.

A landscape that makes you curious about what’s around the next corner.
Even the unexpected rain on our way over felt like part of the story. By the time we arrived at Helliwell, we were crossing our fingers, watching the clouds, and trusting that whatever the weather gave us, we’d work with it.

And we did.

V + O brought so much playful energy and creativity into the morning — wandering, laughing, exploring somewhere completely new together. And that’s exactly what I love about sessions like this.

Your engagement photos don’t have to be about standing in a beautiful location and knowing what to do with your hands.

They can feel like an experience.

A tiny road trip.
A ferry ride somewhere new.
Bare feet on the beach.
Running through tall grass.
Climbing over rocks.

Following the light just to see where it takes us.

A little adventure, a little whimsy, and plenty of room to just be yourselves.

When we let the landscape, the weather, and your own personalities lead the way, the photographs start to tell a story that feels a whole lot more like you.

And honestly, I can’t think of a better way to spend an engagement session.

This past weekend I had the honour of documenting

This past weekend I had the honour of documenting C & B’s bright, colourful wedding at Gowlland Harbour Resort on Quadra Island. 🌿
.
It was my first time photographing a wedding here and wow, what a beautiful little pocket of BC. Tucked amongst the forest and coastline, Gowlland Harbour Resort has that relaxed, intimate West Coast feel.
.
But as beautiful as the setting was, it was all the personal details C & B brought into the day that made it feel completely their own.
.
Handwritten notes were waiting for each guest at dinner. Handmade spoon rests became wedding favours. And every piece of stationery was thoughtfully created by the bride herself. So many thoughtful details that showed the people closest to them how grateful they were to have them there.
.
A good reminder that you don’t need to buy everything new or follow every wedding trend. Sometimes the pieces that mean the most are the ones made by hand or created with a whole lot of love.
.
If you’re dreaming up a wedding somewhere along the coast, I will forever be a fan of days that feel personal and completely like you.
