What makes this kind of session meaningful isn’t just what it looks like—it’s what it holds. 
When I photograph newborns, I’m not thinking about creating perfection.
I’m thinking about what will matter to you later. 
The way your baby fits into your arms right now…
how naturally you pull them a little closer without even realizing it. 
The quiet pace of these early days—
and the way life has gently shifted into something slower, softer. 
The small, ordinary moments that don’t feel like much while you’re in them…
but will be the ones you miss the most. 
This Victoria session wasn’t styled or rushed.
There was no pressure to make it anything other than what it already was. 
It was simply observed.
And that’s what makes it last. 
Because years from now, these images won’t just show you what things looked like—
they’ll bring you back to who you were in this season.

2. I’m paying just as much attention to the quiet moments as the big ones
3. I won’t try to make everything look “perfect”
4. Movement, laughter, and little imperfections are always welcome
5. Some of your favourite images will happen in between prompts
6. The setting matters—but how it feels matters more
7. Your photos will look like your life… just a little more intentional

Moorecroft Park gave us the backdrop—but none of this was about the location. (Although it did feel VERY special to stumble across an owl during the session!🦉)
It was about the quiet in-between moments.
The pauses. The small laughs. The almost-missed moments.
That’s the part I’m always paying attention to.

Because real always lasts longer than perfect. 🌿

Feed the Valley 2026 🌿 
Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of photographing the first Feed The Valley fundraiser at 40 Knots Winery. Together, over $21,597 was raised for the Comox Valley Food Bank—supporting hundreds of families in our community every single day. It was pretty incredible to witness. 
A big thank you to Chris for bringing this event to life and for the heart behind it all. And to everyone who showed up, contributed, or supported in any way—those small actions add up to something really meaningful. 
I feel really grateful to have been there to capture it all. Events like this are such a reminder of what community can look like when people come together with care and generosity.

5 small things that make a big difference during your engagement session:
1. Pick a location you’d go to even without photos.
2. Wear something that feels like you, not a version of you.
3. Expect a bit of nervous energy at the start (it passes quickly).
4. Stay close, stay connected—that’s what matters most.
5. Let go of trying to make it look a certain way.
J + T kept things simple — just the forest, a sunny morning, and Summit along for it all 🐾
And that was more than enough.
If you’re starting to think about your own engagement session, this is the kind of energy I always aim for.
